We are a high quality, small, friendly Pre school in the heart of Sway in the New Forest, which has been established for over 40 years.

We currently take children from 2 years until school age and are open 40 weeks per year.

With outstanding staff to child ratios, of never more than 4 children per member of staff, and sometimes as low as 2:1, we feel we can provide an excellent environment for your child to feel safe and secure.

Our staff are fully NVQ trained, with a passion and commitment to making this a fun and welcoming setting for young children.

Jayne Selby

I have worked in Early Years settings for many years and feel there is something truly amazing about seeing children progress and develop into their own characters.

I particularly love working at Little Flyers where the children have the chance to progress at their own pace, learn through play and enjoy the magical experience of being a child.

I am currently working towards my BA Degree in Childhood Studies. I previously worked as a teaching assistant in a Primary School, and I am really enjoying getting to know the children at Little Flyers.

Lucy Bird

Childcare Practitioner

Having completed my A levels in 2024, I worked at Little Flyers over the summer. I really enjoyed seeing how children learn and getting to know their individual personalities. I am now working towards my Level 3 Diploma in Early Years Education alongside working at Little Flyers

I have worked in early years education since 2012 and also have experience working in local government children's services. I joined Little Flyers in September 2025.  In our fast paced technological world, I love sharing my passion for the outdoors and nature with the children, slowing down and finding joy in the small things. Getting to know the children and supporting their learning and development through play is the greatest privilege!

Miranda Elliott

Childcare Practitioner

I have worked with children for many years, having qualified with a BTEC in nursery after leaving school. I have worked in many different settings over the years. I had a career break to have my children, who both attended Little Flyers. After they left I decided that I would like to join the team, I love to see the children thriving in a small community nursery.

Melanie Haynes

Childcare Practitioner (bank staff)

After a career break to have my own children I joined Little Flyers in September 2018. I qualified with my Diploma in childcare in 2003 and I have previously worked as a nanny and in another pre-school. I love seeing the children learn, grow and flourish. Working with pre-school children is a fulfilling experience, that brings such joy.

Little Flyers Committee

Anyone with an interest in the pre-school is welcome to join the committee. We are a really friendly bunch who meet every 4-5 weeks. A warm welcome awaits those with some free time to help with general running of the pre-school, or fundraising and marketing activities. Let a member of staff know if you are interested in joining us and they will point you in the right direction. Any help or input you would like to give is greatly received.
