Move of Premises
Little Flyers Pre-School moves to Sway Youth Centre from September.
1 August 2025
Located in the thriving village of Sway, Little Flyers is a small, friendly pre-school for children aged 2-4 years. With excellent links to the local community and a diverse calendar of fun activities and events, children are encouraged to explore the world around them in a stimulating and nurturing environment.
From the start of the new term in September, Little Flyers will be located at the Youth Centre on Station Road. The additional space and improved facilities will help secure the future of the pre-school and provide a new and exciting learning environment.
Why now?
For some time, the pre-school committee has been looking at what was needed to ensure the setting would thrive. With space at the village hall limited, and a number of changes in the pipeline, the team started to look at whether there was an alternative.
‘Early years settings are facing a number of challenges, and Little Flyers is no exception. A combination of lower birth rates, government funding for children under 2 years, and rising costs left us wondering what we could do to ensure our future. We considered several options, but in the end it made the most sense to move. The Youth Centre is a great option, offering everything we have now, and more. We feel confident that we have found the best environment and are excited to bring Little Flyers to its new home over the summer break.’ Kirsty Keating, Co-Chair
The decision wasn’t taken lightly, especially as the pre-school has been at the village hall for around 50 years. It has been a wonderful space filled with love, learning, fun, and excitement, and everyone will be sad to see the children leave.
‘We understand that Little Flyers hold a special place in many people’s hearts, but the only real change is the bricks and mortar surrounding us and the roof over our heads. The care, commitment, fun, and warmth from the whole team remains the same.’ Laura Howard, Supervisor
While the team has a huge task ahead of them, there is no denying the Youth Centre is ideally situated. There are plans to build closer ties with St Luke’s Primary School, and Sway Place, and the playground at Jubilee Fields is a much easier walk.
The new location has been evaluated to ensure that it provides ample opportunity for the play-based learning approach and carefully planned curriculum. Little Flyers will continue to deliver engagement, focus, and excitement for learning in every child with a strong foundation of skills and knowledge to thrive in their learning journey.
‘While uncertainty over the building itself remains, it is wonderful to have a clear purpose and identity.’ Carole Deacon, Chair, Sway Youth Centre
From September Little Flyers Pre-School will be open from 8am-6pm, 48 weeks of the year with holiday clubs available for children aged up to 7 years. Benefitting from high staff to child ratios, and offering a wide range of indoor and outdoor activities to suit all interests, children grow into happy, confident individuals with excellent social skills and independence.
